Always Be Proud of Your Work

If there is something that motivates me, makes me move and of course, makes me proud of myself, is work. Not to be confused with an unhealthy obsession where I don't take care of myself, because I do take care of myself, but I need to work or I start to feel useless.

I've seen so many people in my life at schools do something that requires a bit of effort and do it miserably, but why? The answer is that most people are useless. They only care about finishing the product and hand their work as fast as possible, which is completely nuts to me. For me, at least, effort shows your actual commitment to the task and it may take longer, but for me it's better to show you WANT to work rather than GET to work as soon as possible by doing things poorly.

Back when I was in Computer Informatics and Networks classes, we had an assigment, which was to make a Word document presenting a Nation, including their History, Culture, Geography, Gastronomy, and other aspects. The teacher gave us 1 week to complete it and hand the document.

At the first session of that class. over 15 of the 25 students were ALREADY in the Geography section of the project, which was one of the last categories. Taking a glimpse at their works, and they were, to say the least, depressing. I have never seen people so uncreative or uninspired in something that you just put random images that match the category with a few paragraphs and done, when the teacher ESPECIFIED to be creative, not only in text but images and other things Word had to offer. And it's not like they didn't know how to use the program. Before every session, the teacher explained well how to use EVERY tool, but people did not care, and did something completely the opposite. It's sad, it's sad knowing these useless dipshits will probably have a bigger success due to being lucky because nowadays people observe not on how they did the work but when they did the work, and it's scaring me.

I don't like saying it, but I have proven to be the best at many things in many schools throughout my life, because of effort. While that did not give me any special award, it did give me a reward, and is that I was proud of my work, and that made me realize that I loved working. Since I wanted to know about Game Development, I decided that I wanted to work all the time, for the rest of my life, on what I like of course. Because I know I will love it, and somebody who loves their work, they do not perform poorly.

The concept alone of retiring is just so obcure for me.

I've seen this mindset of getting a 9-5 job, have kids, do nothing else, keep working and retire as fast as possible. Like, really? I did not want to argue with them since it was gonna be useless, because people wouldn't care. I CARE. I care about my work, work is almost everything for me and it's what makes me proud of myself, my work may have not been the best, but knowing the effort I put into my projects, I am proud of myself for not letting this stupidity get over me. So, please do not make these mistakes, life for everyone can literally end anywhere at anytime, and something you don't want to hear minutes before your death is "Are you proud of yourself?" While having flashbacks to all your shitty, sadly efficient work thanks to teachers who don't value effort put into something. It will for sure not be pleasant.

Most of the time, people who have worked their asses always had a big success in their lives, while not being famous globally. These people will be the future. They will change the world with their ambition, creativeness and effort.

If you love something and it needs work and effort, you will be willing to go through that because you enjoy it, and in the future, you will be proud of yourself. So for the sake of your future, be different, follow the rules (creatively), and you'll be proud of your work.
